Planning Process

The planning process to develop The University Community on Campus – UBC’s Housing Action Plan began in early 2011 and was led by the Community Planning Task Group (the CPTG) of the Board of Governors, chaired by Dr. Nassif Ghoussoub.

From April 2011 to April 2012, the Task Group researched what other jurisdictions and peer universities where doing, toured other universities, conducted best-practices research, assessed campus needs and consulted with the campus community.

The result of the planning process is the The University Community on Campus – UBC’s Housing Action Plan, which presents a set of housing program options for faculty, staff and students.

This section provides context on the development of the Plan and the planning process itself, including the Guiding Principles, the consultation process, and research on housing demand and peer universities.
